    Pi as Accesspoint/Tor AP

Hi, i finished this two tutorials, without errors.Pi3 with internal wifi, i could use edimax wfifistick or alfa usb with ar9271 chipset... https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-wireless-access-point/ https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-tor-access-point/... After that, theres no pi wifinetwork to find, so i cant connect any mobile to it. Whats wrong? Any ideas? Im really new in this, sorry. My idea is, the ip-range in the config as described should be outside the homenetwor router range? 192.168.178.50-99 for example i used, but its inside my home network? the wifi looks as started with ifconfig Please help, i can provide all data you need asap. Thanks a lot BTW.... When the otr is launched and working, its which status? relay i hope? Only for me, not others? Thanks

Many thanks for your reply, it's not a Zero it's a B+ V1.2 running the latest Raspbian Stretch.

Are you running this on a Raspberry Pi zero? Just browsing through some Github issues there may be an issue with the hotword service starting correctly. Typically erroring with "illegal instruction". This Github topic may have a solution: https://github.com/googlesamples/assistant-sdk-python/issues/235 I will need to look into this more and test.

    XBox One Controller Connectivity Issue

I find the 360 controller easier to connect, more stable and more responsive in both menus and games. So I totally agree with you @The_Joker_07 its better to stick with the 360 controller. I bought two new xbox one controllers because one of my older 360 controllers just stopped working. The new controllers feel very good and it is a pity that they dont work that well with the retropie. I could not get the xbox one wireless dongle to work either. I thought it would be better with the dongle than bluetooth?! After what I have read elsewhere it doesn't look like it is possible. I will try to fiddle with this a bit more and also incorporate connection to the controllers when booting. I must just say that when I run the JStest the xbox one controllers seem very responsive but in the menus they are a little off and on.

    XBox One Controller Connectivity Issue

Hi @AndersNilsen , No, I didn't implement disable_ertm in startup cuz I didn't use my XB 1 controller afterward. I decided to stick to my XB 360 controller.

Hello, newvbie here. I've been following the excellent tutorial listed on the website and have trawled through the forum for an answer to my problem but can't seem to find an solution. I've got everything working fine via the push to talk but cannot for the life of me get the hotword started. As per the tutorial I tried googlesamples-assistant-hotword --device-model-id abcd All I get back is "Illegal Instruction" I then tried: googlesamples-assistant-hotword --device-model-id <your device id> With the correct device id added and again "Illegal Instruction" I finally tried: googlesamples-assistant-hotword --device-model-id <your device id> --project-id <your project id> Again with the correct values added and yet again "Illegal Instruction" If anyone could help me get past this little hurdle, I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks in advance.

    XBox One Controller Connectivity Issue

Hi @The_Joker_07 Tried it just now, and it did not work for xbox one controller on bluetooth but it worked for my xbox 360controller with wireless dongle. Same as your experience.. By the way. Did you implempent the disable_ertm in the startup file?

    XBox One Controller Connectivity Issue

Hey @AndersNilsen, Were you able to use your XB1 wireless controller as a mouse? did the following command work: sudo xboxdrv --detach-kernel-driver --silent --mouse I wasn't able to use my XB 1 controller as a drive since Xboxes doesn't recognize XB1 controller no matter how I connect it (Bluetooth or Wired). I was able to use my Xbox 360 controller though.

    XBox One Controller Connectivity Issue

Hello Thanks for the guide Gus if you are reading this. I am using xbox one wireless controllers with bluetooth. I also struggled a long time with the sudo bash command due to the lack of quotationmarks. For noobs like me it is not granted that quotations are needed so it would be great for other people to have it included in the guide. The right command is : sudo bash -c 'echo 1 > /sys/module/bluetooth/parameters/disable_ertm' Else it worked quite well except i believe it is mandatory to do the calibration of the buttons twice to get it right. Have a nice day
  15. Using straightforward python3 code to send an external card commands via pi2 GPIO Tx and recieve confirmation via Rx. The card requires codes such as F140 D040 etc and returns 4 character text codes to confirm. Not working, so first testing by opening two terminals on pi, running the write test in one and the read test in the other, connected Tx and Rx. Transmitting F150 and D050. Rx shows b'F150' and b'D050'. Any ideas why? If not transmitting the read pogram shows b''

will not execute on boot up

Gus, thank you for your reply. i tried increasing the sleep time per your suggestion. It only delayed the appearence of the system Prompt. pi$Raspberry. I made the SD card with piBakery if that helps at all. The images are on a thumb drive that plugs directly into one of the Raspberry 3B's 4 usb ports. The file creations and modifications on the SD card some were done using VNC, with the terminal, that is found in the GUI. others were typed directly at the prompt by using a keyboard. Perhaps knowing these particulars will help diagnose the problem. i can also post a copy of my SD card in dropbox, or mail an SD micro card, created with the app SD Card Copier to mirror the one, that is now in my Raspberry Pi for this very useful project. BTW, feh like you said is powerful and useful for this project. I can start the image transitions manually, but not on boot up. I am hoping we can make this eaiser for my non-nerd wife to use her Christmas present to add her own images. She loves creating new ones, and displaying tons of family photos. The digital picture frame will save me thousands of dollars of having to build new walls just for her to hang more pictures / images. To anyone out there, I wish to become a Raspberry Pi power user, which means I will probably have to learn Linux. In the mean time I would love to know how Raspian works, and what files it executes in what order upon boot up. And does Raspian see the instructions differently if they are created at the system prompt or via the terminal available in the GUI, or over VNC. Any books about how raspian works or its internals that you can suggest I read would be very much appreciated. Best wishes and cheers to all. Thank you, Joe Rich, W1EK, ex-N1OCS, XR0Y, 9G5RC,... will not execute on boot up

Hi @PiLover, I will need to go back through the tutorial and test to see if i can recreate the issue you're having. It's possible that boot sequence has changed thus the script is being called at the wrong time. In the meantime, you can try increasing the sleep time and see if that will fix the issue.

    Permission denied with Transmission

What's the user for Transmission now? You will need to add it to a group that has permissions to write into the NAS folders. If the Pi user can make directories, files etc. then add the user to the pi group.

    Permission denied with Transmission

/home/piuser/MyNAS has root root permissions. Transmission is actually running under my main user. If see the guide link I posted, it's changed to run under user of your selection.

will not execute on boot up

Hi I installed feh and have used all the commands verbatim to get my digital picture frame (based on the Raspberry Pi 3b) and although bash /home/pi/start-picture-frame.sh (starts the picture frame working perfectly) having these commands sleep 10 bash /home/pi/start-picture-frame.sh & just above the exit 0 line /etc/rc.local does nothing. the bash/ /home/pi/start-picture-frame will not execute on boot up of the raspberry pi !!!!!! Why not, what am I doing wrong? I thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide. Cheers, PiLover

    Permission denied with Transmission

You will need to give permission to transmission to be able to write in these directories. First, you need to check who owns the files/folders. Something like the following should get you the right information ls -l /home/piuser/MyNAS/ It might be something like pi pi or root root. I recommend not giving the transmission user root rights for security reasons. Next, you need to give Transmission rights to write in the folders. You can add transmission to a group by running something like. usermod -aG pi debian-transmission This should give permission to Transmission, but it will need to be tested.

    apache webserver and htaccess

If you only made changes to the htaccess and htpasswd files then it's likely something you did has broken the server. I recommend reverting the changes and then slowly add your changes again. Constantly check to see if something breaks. You can also view Apache log for errors, typically located at /var/log/apache2/access.log

    ERROR 404: NOTOK

Hello, I have been using my pi for about two weeks now. I have used it for retro pie, and am now trying something new. I decided to try to make a minecraft pocket edition server. I have gotten to step 10 of the guide down below and I keep getting this error ERROR 404: NOTOK. I pinged www.google.com and it came up as okay and my network is working. Any help? https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-minecraft-pe-server/

    Permission denied with Transmission

I have raspeberry pi with transmission set up. I recently got a Zyxel NAS326. I want use Pi as torrent client as it has a VPN enabled and NAS326 can't use VPN. I've successfully mounted NAS share on Pi with this in fstab: //192.168.0.20/plex /home/piuser/MyNAS cifs username=user,password=pass123 0 0 And can access it without problems. I have two directories made for Transmission: /home/piuser/MyNAS/torrent_complete /home/piuser/MyNAS/torrent-inprogress When I'm trying to start a torrent I get the message: Permission denied (/home/piuser/MyNAS/torrent_complete/movie/Data.bin) How can I fix this? EDIT: I originally followed this guide and since I now have a NAS, I unplugged the HDD. https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-torrentbox/
